Overview: As a Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the administrative functions of Frog Lake First Nations. You will work closely with the Chief & Council and the COO
(Chief Operations Officer) to develop and implement administrative and operational policies and procedures to ensure the efficient operation of the Nation and its companies. The CAO plays a crucial role in driving organizational effectiveness, streamlining processes, and optimizing resources to support the company’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the executive team to develop organizational goals, strategies, and plans.
• Provide input on administrative aspects of strategic initiatives and ensure alignment with company objectives.
• Lead and supervise administrative staff, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure high performance and professional development.
• Establish and communicate clear expectations, roles, and responsibilities within the administrative team.
• Develop and implement administrative policies, procedures, and systems to support efficient operations and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Regularly review and update policies to reflect changes in internal needs and external regulations.
• Oversee the allocation and utilization of resources, including office space, equipment, and supplies, to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop and manage the administrative budget, monitoring expenses and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
• Identify opportunities to streamline administrative processes and enhance productivity through automation, outsourcing, or other means.
• Implement best practices and standard operating procedures to improve workflow and eliminate redundancies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing administrative activities.
• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect the organization’s interests.
• Foster open communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders to address administrative needs and support cross-functional initiatives.
• Serve as a liaison between administrative departments and other functional areas of the organization.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for administrative functions and regularly monitor performance against targets.
• Prepare reports and presentations for Frog Lake Chief & Council on administrative activities, achievements, and challenges.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or related field;
• Proven experience in administrative leadership roles, preferably in a similar industry or organization.
• Strong understanding of administrative principles, practices, and regulations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement administrative policies and procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
• Understanding of Frog Lake First Nation Personnel Policy and Procedures.
• Understanding of the Cree Language and Culture of Frog Lake First Nations People
• Any other duties as assigned by Chief Operations Officer, Chief & Council.
