Saddle Lake Cree Nation, alongside Onion Lake Cree Nation and Tsuut’ina Nation, has issued an open letter declaring that no organization has the authority to negotiate or give consent on our behalf at the First Nations–First Ministers’ Meeting in Ottawa. Leadership raised serious concerns regarding rushed federal legislation—including Bills C-37 and C-39—affirming that our inherent rights, jurisdiction, and Treaty relationships cannot be compromised or bound without our express, free, prior, and informed consent. Community members, Elders, Clan Mothers, and youth are urged to stay informed and stand united to protect our lands, waters, and sovereignty for future generations.
