To provide financial assistance to individual(s) living on reserve in maintaining a basic standard of living who have met all financial eligibility requirements as per Annex A and B.
The Income Assistance program provides funding to assist eligible individuals and families who are ordinarily resident on reserve with: basic needs, special needs, and pre-employment measures designed to increase self-reliance.
The desired outcome is an improved quality of life through the alleviation of poverty and hardship on reserve, so that Income assistance clients are employable and able to secure and/or maintain attachment to the workforce.
❖ Basic Needs – core essential, core shelter, supplemental benefits, funeral assistance
❖ COPH – Child out of Parental Home
❖ IST (WOP) – Income Support Transfer
❖ Special Needs – in order to access special needs, one needs to be in receipt of income support benefits. Some special needs include: emergency food, NIHB for non-status, arrears, replacement clothing, child care to name a few
