The Cook Assistant supports the Head Cook in the daily operation of the kitchen by helping prepare and serve nutritious, well-balanced meals for students. Responsibilities include meal preparation, menu planning, grocery shopping for food and supplies, and maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation
- Food Handler Certificate
- Experience working in a kitchen or food service environment
- Knowledge of the Cree language is considered a strong asset
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Cook with daily meal preparation and food service
- Follow directions from the immediate supervisor
- Assist with preparing meals for children with food allergies or dietary restrictions
- Help develop monthly meal menus
- Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation
- Demonstrate professionalism and a positive attitude when serving students
- Complete grocery shopping and other kitchen-related errands as required
- Maintain excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Follow all Saddle Lake Cree Nation policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Perform other related duties as assigned
